STILLWATER – Oklahoma State bounced back in its midweek series finale against Utah Tech with a 12-2 run-rule win in seven innings Wednesday at O'Brate Stadium.
With the win, the Cowboys improved to 8-5, while Utah Tech fell to 2-12.
Colin Brueggemann led the Pokes with a 3-for-4, four-RBI day at the plate and fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, while Avery Ortiz went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs.
Bryson Hudgens secured his first win of the season, working three shutout innings and striking out two. Ryan Bogusz started on the mound and struck out four over three innings while allowing two runs on four hits.
The Cowboys jumped out to a lead early on a Brueggemann RBI triple in the first before the Trailblazers came back to take the lead with runs in the second and third frames.
But OSU rallied in the bottom of the third to take a lead it never relinquished.
Zach Ehrhard led off the inning with a double and later came home on a wild pitch to get the scoring started. Brueggemann would drive in two more runs with a double, and Aidan Meola delivered a two-RBI single to push the OSU lead to 5-2.
Brueggemann tallied another RBI on a single in the fourth, and the Cowboys added to their lead in the fifth as Ehrhard collected a two-RBI double and Carson Benge drove him in with a single.
Leading 9-2, OSU extended that advantage on a sacrifice fly by Meola in the sixth.
In the seventh, it was Ortiz plating the game-winning runs with a two-run homer to center field to push the lead to 10 and secure the walkoff. The blast was the second of the season for the freshman.
The Cowboys return to action Friday when they open a three-game weekend series against Mercer at 6 p.m. at O'Brate Stadium.
