STILLWATER – For the third year in a row, the Oklahoma State wrestling team tied a program record with six Cowboys being named to the NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-America team, the NWCA announced on Friday.
Daton Fix (Master's in Leisure Studies) became the first Cowboy to earn five selections to the team since the recognition began in 1991. His previous appearances came in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Dustin Plott (Agribusiness), Luke Surber (Agribusiness) and Izzak Olejnik (Graduate College) each earned the honor for the third year in a row. Plott and Surber are just two of 14 Cowboys to make the list three times, while Olejnik achieved the feat between his time at OSU and Northern Illinois. Zach Blankenship (Biology/Pre-Medical Sciences) and Cutter Sheets (Pre-Veterinary Animal Science) also received the accolade for the first time in their careers.
The NWCA Scholar All-America awards recognize exceptional student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics and athletics. A total of 338 scholar-athletes from 78 institutions across the nation were recognized for their achievements. Oregon State led the nation with nine recipients.
