Cowboys Finish Fifth At Big 12 Match Play

HOCKLEY, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's golf team knocked off Texas Tech, 2-1-2, in the fifth-place match to conclude play at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament on Wednesday at Houston Oaks.
Overall, the Cowboys finished the event with a 2-1-2 record.
In the first match out, freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson tied Sean Keeling, while sophomore Eric Lee followed. tying his match with Charlie DeLong.
The middle match featured sophomore Gaven Lane and Tech's Calum Scott. The Red Raiders put a point on the board via Scott's 3-and-2 victory.
Sophomore Ethan Fang posted a 1-up win over Connor Graham to get the Pokes on the board. Graham grabbed the lead on the first hole and led by as many as three before Fang started to chip away, winning three holes over a four-hole stretch to square the match with four to play. He would win the next hole to take the lead before Graham tied the match with two to play. Fang would win the 17th and tie the last to claim the victory.
Sophomore Preston Stout tallied a 4-and-3 win over Tim Wiedemeyer to seal the team victory. After tying the first two holes, Stout won the third before Wiedemeyer pulled even two holes later. Stout would win three of the next four to take a 3-up lead. He would build the advantage to four with six to play before closing out the win at the 15th.
With his win, Stout improved to 6-2-2 all time at the event.
