October 30, 2024 | Cowboy Wrestling
TIRANA, Albania – Oklahoma State head wrestling coach David Taylor has the chance to win a bronze medal at 92 kilograms after the first day of the Senior World Championships in Tirana, Albania.
Taylor opened Wednesday's action with a highly anticipated matchup against Abdulrashid Sadulaev (Independent Neutral Athlete) that consisted of 11 World or Olympic titles and 13 total medals. Despite several early attacks by Taylor, Sadulaev was able to grab a lead in the first period and came away with a 7-0 victory.
Sadulaev then swept his next three matches throughout the day to reach the finals, which pulled Taylor back into the repechage bracket for a chance to win bronze. He will face Azerbaijan's Abubakr Abakarov in the first repechage round with German Lars Schaefle and two-time World champion Kamran Ghasempour of Iran also on the same side of the bracket.
The repechage rounds begin at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday and are quickly followed by the medal matches at noon. Streaming options, live stats and brackets will all available on FloWrestling.org.
