Dustin Plott Earns Big 12 Weekly Honors

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestler Dustin Plott was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for his big win over fourth-ranked Trey Munoz of Oregon State on Sunday, the conference announced today.
In the marquee matchup of the dual, Plott faced Munoz for a top-five battle at 184 pounds. The two wrestlers traded escapes and were tied, 1-1, early in the third period. Plott then secured the key takedown, which was ultimately enough to pick up the 4-2 decision.
Plott has now defeated two top-five opponents this month, the first coming against NC State's Dylan Fishback, after entering the season with none in his career. The senior has excelled at 184 pounds this season, compiling an 18-1 record and earning bonus points in 15 matches.
Two Cowboys have now claimed weekly conference honors, as 165-pounder Izzak Olejnik was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week in early December. True freshman Brayden Thompson was also named NCAA Wrestler of the Week on December 12. Tuesday marked Plott's first time earning Big 12 Wrestler of the Week in his career.
Oklahoma State returns to action with a busy upcoming weekend in Gallagher-Iba Arena, hosting a pair of ranked foes in Northern Iowa on Friday, January 26, and Iowa State the very next night.
