August 26, 2023 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State thrower Chase Ealey won her second straight world title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday, with a season-best throw of 20.43 meters in her fifth attempt.
At last year's world championships in Eugene, Ore., Ealey became the first American woman to win a world title in the Shot Put and now had two world championships to her name after Saturday's performance. She is also believed to be the first individual two-time gold medalist in either the Olympics or world championships in Cowgirl history.
Entering this year's championships, Ealey was the top-ranked woman in the world in the Shot Put, tied with Canada's Sarah Mitton atop the World Athletics leaderboard. She qualified for the championships via a bye as the defending champion.
Ealey competed for OSU from 2013-16 and currently holds both the indoor and outdoor program records in the Shot Put. She finished her Cowgirl career as a three-time All-American and 12-time All-Big 12 honoree in addition to her runner-up finish at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the Shot Put.
