Jonas Baumgartner Wraps Up Weekend At NCAA Championship

PHOENIX – Oklahoma State's Jonas Baumgartner posted a 54-hole total of 218 over the weekend at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship to stand in a tie for 68th place at Grayhawk Golf Club.
After an opening 78 on Friday, Baumgartner shot up the leaderboard on Saturday at the par-70, 7,289-yard layout. The junior posted a 68 to climb 75 spots into a tie for 67th. His 2-under tally was tied for the third-best round of the day.
Starting his second round on the back nine, Baumgartner made the turn in even-par 35 before moving to 3-under with birdies at the first, sixth and eighth.
Sunday's round once again saw, the Cowboy junior start his day on the back nine. After opening with a pair of bogeys, Baumgartner would turn in 4-over 39. However, he would bounce back with three consecutive birdies at the third, fourth and fifth before ultimately coming home in 2-under 33.
Baumgartner entered NCAA play having placed in the top five in each of his last three starts. Last month, he led OSU to the team title at the Mountaineer Invitational while garnering medalist honors for the first time as a Cowboy. Baumgartner followed with a runner-up showing at the Big 12 Championship with a 273 total that included a 64 during his second round.
He advanced to the championship event after tying for fifth place at the NCAA Las Vegas Regional with a 201 total after signing for rounds of 70, 68 and 63.
