Golden Awarded Big 12 Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week Following Record-Setting Performance

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State multi-events athlete Bailey Golden was named Big 12 Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Jim Click Shootout this past weekend, the conference announced Wednesday.
Golden broke the school record in the Heptathlon with her score of 5,805 points, which ranks second in the NCAA and sixth in the world this year. In the process, she set new personal bests in the High Jump, Javelin, 200 Meters and 800 Meters.
"Excited for Bailey to be named Big 12 Athlete of the Week," Throws, Multis and Vaults Coach Josh Langley said. "In a conference where there are so many high-level athletes, it's a tremendous honor. I'm excited she's getting the recognition that she deserves and others are seeing the ability that we see on a daily basis"
With the award, Golden becomes the fifth Cowgirl honoree to win Big 12 Women's Track Athlete of the Week overall and third outdoors, with the previous Cowgirl winners listed below:
May 6, 2015 – Natalja Piliusina (Outdoors)
Jan. 18, 2017 – Kaela Edwards (Indoors)
Feb. 15, 2017 – Kaela Edwards (Indoors)
Apr. 5, 2017 – Savannah Camacho (Outdoors)
With her score, Golden has likely earned a ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Austin, Texas, from June 7-10.
