Cowboy Baseball Drops Midweek Road Contest
March 28, 2023 | Cowboy Baseball
DALLAS – Oklahoma State had its four-game winning streak snapped Tuesday night as the 13th-ranked Cowboys dropped an 8-0 game to Dallas Baptist at Horner Ballpark.
With the loss, OSU fell to 20-6, while the Patriots improved to 17-8. Both teams won midweek matchups on their home fields this season.
The Cowboys managed only three hits, doubles by Nolan Schubart and Zach Ehrhard and a single off the bat of Chase Adkison, as they were shut out for the first time this season.
Carson Benge took the loss on the mound to fall to 1-1 as the right-hander allowed five runs on three hits and three walks in 2 1/3 innings. He was one of six Cowboys to take the mound in the game.
DBU took an early lead with a pair of first-inning runs. Following a walk and a double with one out, a wild pitch brought home the first run before a fielder's choice made the score 2-0.
The Patriots added to their lead in the third, loading the bases against Benge before Isaac Stebens came on and surrendered a two-RBI double to Ethan Mann. DBU then added a run on a groundout to take a 5-0 advantage.
The lead reached 7-0 in the fifth following a two-run home run off the bat of Mann, his team-leading sixth of the season, and DBU plated its final run in the eighth.
OSU returns to Big 12 Conference action this weekend when the Cowboys host Texas. Friday's series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m., with Saturday's game also at 6 p.m. and Sunday's finale at 1 p.m.
