Cowboy and Cowgirl Cross Country Holds Steady in Top 5 of Latest USTFCCCA Coaches Poll
September 13, 2022 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country teams remained at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) coaches poll, the organization announced today.
The Cowboys once again received one first-place vote after their victory at the Cowboy Preview on Sept. 1 and sit only behind reigning national champions Northern Arizona. Eight of the current top-10 ranked teams on the men's side will be competing in the Cowboy Jamboree on the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course on Sept. 24, including the entire top five.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls retained their preseason No. 4 ranking after the Cowboy Preview and will look to move up with the Cowboy Jamboree on the horizon. Six current top-10 teams will be competing at the Jamboree, with three of those currently ranked in the top five.
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls are also ranked first in the Midwest Region with the top two teams in each region advancing automatically to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held in Stillwater on Nov. 19.
