Cowboy Golf Earns Top Seed For Columbus Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will be the top seed in the NCAA Columbus Regional it was announced today by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee.
The Cowboys will be one of 13 teams in action at Ohio State's Scarlet Course. OSU will be joined by Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Ohio State, Duke, Northwestern, Florida Gulf Coast, San Francisco, Kentucky, Wright State and Southern Ilinois.
The event is one of six 54-hole regional tournaments being conducted May 16-18. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Arizona State and The Thunderbirds are the hosts for the 2022 championships.
OSU has won five consecutive regional titles, after its 14-shot victory at the NCAA Stillwater Regional a year ago and has captured a nation-leading 15 regional titles overall. Additionally, the Cowboys have produced the regional medalist on 11 occasions, including three-time winner Kevin Tway.
The Cowboys have been in the regional field at Scarlet Course on five previous occasions. OSU finished first in 1990 and 2018, was third in 1993, fourth in 1999 and second in 2008.
Three of OSU's 11 national titles have come at the famed course as well with OSU emerging victorious in 1980, 1987 and 1995.
