Cowboy Baseball Continues Winning Ways

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State collected its fifth-straight win with an 11-1 triumph over Seton Hall Friday night at O'Brate Stadium.
The seventh-ranked Cowboys improved to 12-6 with the win, while Seton Hall is now 1-14 on the season.
All-American Justin Campbell was again stout on the mound as he improved to 2-1 with a six-inning performance that included 10 strikeouts and saw him allow just one run. The right-hander has now posted double digits in strikeouts in three consecutive games and leads the Big 12 with 49 punchouts on the season.
David Mendham had a big night at the plate, driving in four runs with a pair of doubles, while Marcus Brown had two RBIs and smacked the first home run of his career.
Jake Thompson continued to swing a hot bat as well as he went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs to raise his batting average to .420.
The Cowboys scored in the first inning for the third-straight game to gain the early advantage. With two out, Thompson hit a high fastball over the visiting bullpen in right field for a solo home run, his first of the year.
OSU followed that with a big inning in the second as the Cowboys posted six runs altogether. The big blow came in the form of a two-RBI double from Mendham with the bases loaded. The Pokes also got three runs by way of two walks and a hit batter with the bases loaded and another via a wild pitch.
The Cowboys added another run in the third inning. Zach Ehrhard was hit by a pitch with two outs and stole second base. Thompson then singled to right field, scoring Ehrhard from second and producing his third RBI of the evening.
OSU continued their offensive production in the fourth. This time, Brown hit a 2-2 breaking ball into the visiting bullpen with one out and nobody on to give the home team a 9-0 lead.
Seton Hall managed its only run of the game in the top of the fifth. The first two Pirates in the inning doubled, bringing home a run, but after another hit, Campbell induced an inning-ending double play to strand a runner on third and hold the Pirates to the lone run.
The Cowboys reached double figures in the fifth inning when they plated two more runs. Roc Riggio walked and Ehrhard singled with one out, and Mendham then lined his second double of the day down the left-field line, driving in both runners and giving him four RBIs in the game.
The two teams return to action Saturday at 1 p.m., with Sunday's finale set for a noon first pitch.
