March 17, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State distance runner Taylor Roe was named Midwest Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA, the organization announced Thursday.
Roe earned the honor after her record-setting season that netted the program's first indoor individual national championship since 2016 in the 3,000 Meters and three Big 12 championships in the DMR, Mile and 3K.
This is Roe's second major award of the indoor season after she was also named Big 12 Women's Performer of the Year earlier this month after setting the Big 12 meet record in the Mile and was the conference's second-highest point scorer individually.
Roe currently holds the school record in the 3K with her time of 8:58.58 that she set at the Wooo Pig Classic in December.
Her 10 points at the national meet helped the Cowgirls to an 18th-place finish in the team race, which was their highest finish since 2016. It was also the fifth time in program history the Cowgirls scored in double digits in the team race and the 18th-place finish was the sixth best in program history.
