Former Cowboy Baseball All-American Roberto Lopez Dies

STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State All-American infielder Roberto Lopez passed away last week at the age of 50.
A native of Puerto Rico, Lopez starred for the Cowboys from 1992-94 and helped lead OSU to a third-place finish at the 1993 College World Series.
Lopez played in 154 games over his three seasons in Stillwater and posted a .310 career batting average. He ranks ninth all time at OSU with 65 stolen bases.
In 1994, Lopez capped his collegiate career by being named to the NCBWA All-America Second Team as he led the Pokes with a .364 batting average, 21 doubles and 33 stolen bases. He also topped the club in runs (76) and hits (94).
The 1994 season also saw Lopez set a Big Eight Conference and OSU record by collecting a hit in 10 consecutive at-bats.
Lopez was drafted in the sixth round of the 1994 Major League Baseball Draft and played three professional seasons.
