Norén's stroke average improved in each of his four seasons as a Cowboy. After earning honorable mention All-America status as a junior, he was tabbed as a third-team selection during his senior campaign. He was also named an all-conference pick both of those seasons.
Swedish Success
Sweden has won nearly 500 medals in its history at the Summer Games. Norén's homeland has a strong history in the game of golf and Norén will be looking to join Henrik Stenson on its list of Olympic medalists in golf. In the sport's return to the Games in 2016 in Rio, Stenson captured the Silver Medal.
The Pipeline
Norén is part of a long pipeline of Swedish talent to find its way to the Cowboy program throughout the years. The Stockholm native is among a group of successful Swedes to wear the orange and black that includes Leif Westerberg and Anders Hultman as well as Karin Sjodin, Pernilla Lindberg, Caroline Hedwall and Maja Stark on the women's side.
On Tour
Norén has 110 starts on Tour to his credit, making the cut on 81 occasions. Norén has tallied 12 top-10 showings, including three third-place finishes and a runner-up at the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.
Across The Pond
Norén has long been a stalwart on the European Tour, tallying 10 victories dating back to his first in 2009 at the Omega European Masters. He collected a pair of wins in 2011 (Saab Wales Open, Nordea Masters) before returning to the winner's circle again in 2015 at the Nordea Masters. After a four-win campaign in 2016, Norén won the BMW PGA Championship in 2017 after closing with a 62. His most recent victory came at the 2018 HNA Open de France.
The Year Of Alex
2016 was a year to remember for Norén. He competed in 22 events on the year, making 20 cuts and winning four times, earning a runner-up finish as well as three other top 10s. In addition to victories at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, British Masters, Omega European Masters and the Scottish Open, Norén recorded a second-place finish at the Paul Lawrie Match Play and finished in the top 10 at the Open de France, Volvo China Open and the Real Club Valderrama Open de España.
For Country
· Norén made his Ryder Cup debut in 2018, finishing with a 2-1-0 record. He capped the event with a long birdie putt on the final hole of his singles match to defeat Bryson DeChambeau.
· Norén competed in 2004 and 2005 at the Arnold Palmer Cup as well.
