Cowboy Baseball Duo Earns All-America Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. – Oklahoma State third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand and pitcher Justin Campbell have been named to the Collegiate Baseball All-America Second Team.
The OSU program has now celebrated 121 All-Americans, and nine Cowboys have earned All-America status in head coach Josh Holliday's nine seasons at the helm. It marks the first time since 2016 that multiple Cowboys have earned All-American status in the same season (Thomas Hatch and Donnie Walton).
Encarnacion-Strand has started all 53 games at third base for the Pokes in his first season in an OSU uniform and is among the nation's most productive hitters with a .362 batting average to go along with 15 home runs, 66 RBIs and a .674 slugging percentage. He has also tallied 17 doubles and three triples.
A native of Pleasant Hill, Calif., who came to OSU after two standout JUCO seasons at Yavapai College, Encarnacion-Strand ranks second nationally in RBIs and is seventh in the NCAA with 147 total bases.
The NCBWA National Player of the Year for April after hitting .458 with seven homers and 30 RBIs and extending a hitting streak to 19 games, Encarnacion-Strand was named the 2021 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year and a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection, and he is a Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist.
Campbell has emerged as the ace of the OSU pitching staff. In 13 appearances (12 starts), he is 7-1 with a 2.08 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 78 innings of work.
A right-hander who was named to the All-Big 12 First Team as both a pitcher and utility player, Campbell is second in the Big 12 in ERA and fifth in strikeouts, and he is the 15th pitcher in OSU history to record 100 strikeouts in a season.
Campbell, who hails from Simi Valley, Calif., has recorded double digits in strikeouts in five of his 12 starts this season, including racking up a career-high 14 punchouts in seven innings in a win at Oral Roberts.
On May 8 at Kansas, Campbell became only the third pitcher in the 110-year history of OSU baseball to throw a no-hitter in a nine-inning game.
