Cowboy Baseball’s Campbell Recognized For No-Hit Performance At Kansas

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Justin Campbell was named the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week for Week 12 following his no-hitter last weekend against Kansas, and he was also recognized as one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week.

A second-year freshman for the Cowboys, Campbell needed just 99 pitches to secure the no-hitter as he struck out 11 and improved to 5-1 with his first-career shutout. He issued just one walk, which came with one out in the eighth inning and was the only thing that kept him from a perfect game.

Campbell's historic day marked only the third nine-inning no-hitter by an OSU pitcher in the 110-year history of the program and the first since 1968. It is the ninth no-hitter by an individual in program history, with five of those coming in seven-inning games and one in a five-inning contest.

The no-hitter was the first for OSU since 1993 when four Cowboy hurlers combined for a no-hitter. The Pokes also had one other combined no-hitter, that coming in a seven-inning game in 1989.

Campbell's no-hitter, which was the 19^th in Big 12 history and the 12^th by an individual, helped OSU secure a series win at Kansas for the first time since 2007.

Campbell's honor marks his third Big 12 weekly award of the season as he was also named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week and Co-Newcomer of the Week for Week 4. OSU has had seven weekly award winners this season, with Brock Mathis (Co-Newcomer of the Week, Week 2), Parker Scott (Pitcher of the Week, Week 5) and Christian Encarnacion-Strand (Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week, Week 3; Big 12 Player of the Week, Week 7 & Week 10) also on the list.
