Pokes Wrap Up Competition at Drake with Top Five Finishes in Men’s and Women’s DMR
April 24, 2021 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
DES MOINES, Iowa – In its last day of outdoor competition from the Drake Relays, Oklahoma State track and field posted a pair of top-five finishes in the both the men's and women's distance medley relay events.
The Drake Relays offered a variety of unique relay events throughout the week. Although the distance medley relay is not traditionally run in the outdoor season and will not on the slate for the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, the historic distance-focused meet at Drake allowed Oklahoma State to show off a strong variety of its middle distance and distance racers.
Starting day two for the Pokes from Drake Stadium, the relay unit of Stephanie Moss, Michaela Travers, Kaytlyn Larson and Taylor Roe teamed up for the runner-up finish with a 11:11.25 pace in the women's DMR.
Shortly after, the Cowboys tabbed a top-five finish in their share of the distance medley relay. Juan Diego Castro, William Edmonds, Garrett Calhoun and Alex Stitt clocked in at 9:44.21, a time that earned them the fourth-place team finish.
As for "What's Next" for the Pokes, they're looking ahead at another triple-meet weekend: Oklahoma State will be represented at the Longhorn Invitational at Texas, the KC Qualifier hosted at the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, and the Rock Chalk Classic at Kansas.
