Round 1 Results
LA QUINTA, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at The Prestige presented by Charles Schwab on Monday with a 7-over 291 to stand in 13th place at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West.
OSU will begin its second round tomorrow just six shots out of the top five at the par-71, 7,100-yard layout. Top-ranked Pepperdine carded an opening 275 and had the day's individual leader in Joey Vrzich, who posted a 66.
Senior Austin Eckroat and freshman Brian Stark each carded 72s to stand in a tie for 31st place to lead the Cowboy starting five.
Senior Ferdinand Müller was a shot back with a 73 and tied for 38th place.
Sophomore Aman Gupta carded a 74 to finish tied for 44th place, while sophomore Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen opened with a 75 and is tied for 54th place.
A trio of Cowboys are competing in the tournament's individual event, which is taking place at Coral Mountain Golf Club. Hazen Newman, Dillon Stewart and Rayhan Thomas will all be in that field.
Newman finished the day in the top five, firing a 2-under 70 to stand in a tie for fifth place.
Stewart posted a 71 and is tied for 10th place, while Thomas carded a 73 and is tied for 16th place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round at 8:40 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Wyoming, Stirling and Arkansas.
