January 20, 2020 | Cowboy Baseball
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State is ranked No. 16 in the preseason Baseball America poll, the highest preseason ranking for the Cowboys thus far.
Head coach Josh Holliday's ballclub has appeared in three other national preseason polls, coming in at No. 19 in the Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game rankings and No. 22 in D1Baseball.com.
OSU is coming off a 2019 season in which it was one win shy of advancing to the College World Series. The Cowboys finished 40-21 overall, winning a Big 12 Conference Championship title and the NCAA Oklahoma City Regional before ending its run in the NCAA Lubbock Super Regional.
Holliday has led his alma mater to an NCAA Regional in each of his first seven seasons at the helm, and the Cowboys have also made three Super Regional appearances and advanced to the 2016 CWS under Holliday.
The Cowboys return four starters in 2020, including their top-two hitters in Carson McCusker and Alix Garcia, and welcome a recruiting class ranked as high as No. 3 nationally.
OSU opens the season Feb. 14 at Grand Canyon.
