May 04, 2019 | Cowboy Wrestling
NEW YORK– Oklahoma State wrestlers Nick Piccininni and Derek White are set to wrestle matches at the 2019 Beat the Streets: Grapple at the Garden on May 6.
Beat the Streets is a non-profit that serves thousands of children in New York. The competition features 13 bouts and marks the 10th annual benefit.
Two-time All-American Piccininni takes on Jack Mueller from the University of Virginia at 57 kilograms. Mueller was the 125-pound NCAA runner-up in 2019, and the Cowboy finished fifth at the Pittsburgh event in March. The pair has never met before. Piccininni comes off a 3-2 outing at the U.S. Open in April.
White, a 2019 NCAA finalist, will face two-time World bronze medalist Nick Gwiazdowski in the 125 kilograms bout. Gwiazdowski earned a spot on the US World team in 2017 and is competing at Beat the Streets for a third-consecutive year. White finished his Cowboy Career in March as an All-American at heavyweight and most recently finished fourth at the Open in Vegas, going 5-2.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. local time on Monday and will stream live on FloWrestling.com.
