Robin Ventura
The All-Allie P. Team Of The 1980s
April 18, 2019 | Cowboy Baseball
In celebration of the final season of historic Allie P. Reynolds Stadium, the top Oklahoma State players from each decade of the stadium's era have been chosen for promotional trading cards, with sets highlighting the OSU stars of the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Each all-decade team includes 25 Cowboys.
Â
With the stadium opening past the midway point of the 1981 season (April 4), the All-Allie P. Team of the 1980s includes those who played at least one full season in the stadium; only players whose careers spanned from 1982-89 were considered.
Â
From 1982-89, the Cowboys made six College World Series appearances and won the Big Eight Conference championship each season, part of a record streak of 16-straight conference titles. Under hall of fame head coach Gary Ward, some of the top players in college baseball history, which included 10 All-Americans, helped OSU compile a 448-118-1 record from 1982-89, a winning percentage of .791.
