Funk Named Big 12 Baseball's Best

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Christian Funk is the Big 12 Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the ninth week of the season, it was announced today by the league office.
Funk had a remarkable week at the plate in OSU's four games, going 8-for-17 (.471) with five home runs, a double and 11 RBIs. He hit safely in all four contests and racked up 24 total bases while turning in a 1.412 slugging percentage. He also drew four walks and scored eight runs.
The Cowboys' third baseman feasted on Kansas pitching during a record-setting weekend in Lawrence as he smacked five homers and a double and drove in 11 runs while going 7-for-14 at the plate.
In Friday's series opener against the Jayhawks, Funk tied an OSU record with three homers as the Cowboys set a school mark with 12 round trippers in the game. He went 4-for-5 with five RBIs in the opener and also tied a program record with six runs. Funk went on to homer in each of the final two games of the series and was 2-for-5 with four RBIs in the finale.
