Viktor Hovland To Compete At Prestigious Georgia Cup

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Oklahoma State's Viktor Hovland is slated to participate at the 22^nd edition of The Georgia Cup Match, which will be held on March 28 at the Golf Club of Georgia's Lakeside Course.

Established in 1998, The Georgia Cup annually brings together the reigning United States and British Amateur champions in advance of The Masters.

Hovland, a junior for the Cowboys, became the 118^th U.S. Amateur champion by defeating UCLA's Devon Bling, 6 & 5, last summer at historic Pebble Beach Golf Links. With his win, the Oslo, Norway native became the fifth OSU player to win the event.

In Thursday's match, Hovland will square off with Jovan Rebula of Auburn. He won the 123^rd British Amateur title at Royal Aberdeen to become the first South African in more than a half century to win the event.

Hovland will be the second Cowboy to participate at the event. Peter Uihlein defeated Jin Jeong, 4 & 2, in 2011.

This year's match will begin at 1 p.m. (EST).
