Nelson, Ruth Finish in Top Three of Hammer Throw

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—Baylor Nelson and Jocelen Ruth kicked off the outdoor season for the Oklahoma State men's and women's track teams Friday night at the Arkansas Spring Invitational.
Nelson and Ruth competed in the women's hammer throw at the Arkansas Spring Invitational.
Nelson won the event and needed one throw to do so. She threw the hammer 46.32m/152-0 on her first throw, which ended up as the top mark of the competition.
Ruth finished in third place with a mark of 45.70m/149-11. Her best throw came on her second attempt, beating out her first throw of 45.01m/149-11.
The action resumes Saturday at 11 a.m. with the women's javelin. Running events are slated for 3 p.m. with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase leading off on the track.
