Harris Headed to Pan-American Championships

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestler Austin Harris heads to Fortaleza, Brazil, this weekend to compete at the Junior Pan-American Championships. He will compete for titles at 97 kg in both the freestyle and Greco brackets.
The tournament will add to a resume for Harris that already includes a Greco title at the UWW Junior freestyle tournament in April, as well as an eighth-place freestyle finish at 2017 Junior Nationals to claim All-America status.
The Roseburg, Ore., native wrestled at 174 and 184 pounds for the Cowboys last season, wrestling exclusively in open tournaments while taking a redshirt year. He posted a 13-8 record on the season and collected bonus points with nine of those wins, including four falls, one technical fall and four major decisions. He enters the 2018-19 season as a redshirt freshman.
