OSU Track and Field Paces Big 12 in Academic Honorees

IRVING, Texas — The Oklahoma State track and field program led the conference with 54 athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 list, including 11 first-team honorees with 4.0 GPAs, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The Cowboys paced the Big 12 in honorees with 25, six of whom earned first-team nods. Ben Butler, Dustan Davidson, Noah Gade, Tanner Green, Christian Liddell and Cole Verble all earned perfect honors, heading the Cowboys' list of 19 with first-team recognition.
The Cowgirls ranked second in the conference with 29 All-Big 12 honorees. Of the 29, five OSU women earned a perfect 4.0 average: Ariane Ballner, Jennifer Celis, Emily Hart, Michelle Magnani and the school's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Stephanie Ferrante.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
