Cowboy Baseball Collects Big 12 Academic Honors

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State had 12 student-athletes named to the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, it was announced by the conference today.
Nine Cowboys were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, while three earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
Highlighting the list of OSU honorees are Jon Littell, Andrew Rosa and Carson Teel, who each earned Academic All-Big 12 accolades for the third time in their careers. Littell was named to the first team for the second-straight year, while Rosa was named to the second team for the second year in a row. Teel is now a three-time second-team selection.
Joining Littell on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team are seniors Cole Hearrean and Travis Wacker, junior Joe Lienhard and sophomores Brady Basso, Peyton Battenfield, Cade Cabbiness, Ryan Cash and C.J. Varela. Lienhard is now a two-time first-team selection.
Along with Rosa and Teel, sophomore Jonathan Heasley earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
The 2018 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team includes 96 student-athletes, with 71 first-team members and 25 second-team honorees. First-team honorees consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average, while the second teamers hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
