Cowboys Remain Atop Cabo Leaderboard Through 36

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 2-under 282 during the second round of play on Monday at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate to remain in first place at Querencia Golf Club.

OSU, which carried a No. 1 national ranking into the event, saw its five-shot lead trimmed to a single stroke after California posted a 278 during its second round at the par-71, 6,898-yard layout. Through 36 holes, the Cowboys stand at 10-under 558, while Cal came in with a 559 total and Arizona State grabbed the No. 3 spot at 564.

After opening with a 65 to hold a one-shot lead, OSU's Matthew Wolff followed with a 68 and will enter tomorrow's final 18 knotted for the top spot with Cal's Collin Morikawa. The duo is three clear of the field with matching 9-under totals of 133.

The Cowboy freshman carded a bogey-free front nine after opening with eight consecutive pars before posting his first birdie of the day at the ninth to turn in 1-under 35. He moved back to level par for the day with a bogey at the 11th, but answered with a birdie at the par-4 12th. After carding a bogey at the 14th, Wolff reeled off three consecutive birdies at Nos. 15, 16 and 17 on his way to his 3-under score.

Joining Wolff in the top five was teammate Viktor Hovland. The sophomore followed an opening 68 with a 69 to stand at 5-under 137 and alone in fourth place.

Senior Kristoffer Ventura shaved two strokes off his opening 72 with a 70 to climb 12 spots into a tie for 13th place at 142.

Freshman Austin Eckroat dipped into a tie for 33rd place after carding a 75 to finish at 146.

Junior Zach Bauchou also posted a 75 and came in with a 147 total, tying him for 45th place.
