OSU Completes Day One of Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three Oklahoma State athletes set personal-best marks on the first day of competition at the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.
In the men's pole vault, true freshman Blake Scott recorded his best mark in an OSU uniform, taking third overall with a height of 4.76m/15-7.25.
"We're just coming off a long break," assistant sprints coach Rodney Burkes said. "We had a month off, so today was just about competition. I was pretty happy for the most part about our competitiveness today."
Also recording her best height as a newcomer to the OSU track and field team, Emily Rogers took fourth in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.73m/5-8. Freshman Sarah Horan looks to make her mark on the OSU record books in the 200-meter dash, running a personal-best 25.83.
OSU indoor record-holder Jacob Fincham-Dukes leaped a season-best distance of 7.64m/25.75 in today's meet. That jump earned him fifth overall and would have put him at No. 1 in OSU record books, but it's a position he already holds from a jump in 2017.
In a meet that saw four men's teams in the nation's top-10 and six women's teams in the top-10, the Pokes will have a chance to rebound and take home gold in predominantly track events left in the meet.
"The 60-meter final is what I'm really looking forward to," Burkes said. "Getting our people out there and getting some TV time will be good for us, so I'm excited to go out there."
Saturday's events kick off with the men's and women's 3,000 meters at 11:10 a.m. CT. SEC Network will be broadcasting some of tomorrow's events, beginning with the 400-meter invitational at 1:00 p.m. CT and concluding with the 4x400-meter relay invitational at 4:15 p.m.
As customary, the 4x400-meter relay will conclude the 2018 Razorback Invitational, set to begin at 4:30 p.m. CT.
