Cowboys Earn Runner-Up Finish In Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Oklahoma State's men's golf team followed up its third victory of the season in its last outing with a runner-up showing at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Wednesday at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
In addition to their three tournament titles this year, the third-ranked Cowboys now have a pair of second-place finishes to their credit as well.
OSU carded an even-par score of 288 during its third round at the par-72, 7,374-yard layout to maintain its hold on the No. 2 spot. The Cowboys finished with a 54-hole score of 863, 1-under par, and 10 shots behind tournament champion Southern California.
California's Collin Morikawa and Oklahoma's Grant Hirschman shared the top spot on the individual leaderboard after posting matching totals of 210. Hirschman claimed medalist honors after defeating Morikawa on the first playoff hole with a birdie to Morikawa's par.
A pair of Cowboys earned top-10 finishes with junior Kristoffer Ventura tying for seventh place and sophomore Zach Bauchou sharing 10th place.
Ventura closed with a 72 to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place at 4-under 212, while Bauchou came in a stroke back at 213 after closing with a 71.
Sophomore Hayden Wood rose seven spots into a tie for 21st place at 219 after signing for a 72 during his third round.
Senior Zachary Olsen posted his second consecutive 76 to get in with a 223 total and tied for 34th place, while freshman Viktor Hovland carded his low round of the event, a 73, to tie for 57th place at 229.
OSU will return to action when it heads to Palm City, Fla., to take part in the Valspar Collegiate, which is set to get underway on March 19.
