Cowboys Grab First-Round Lead In Georgia

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired an opening 277 on Friday to lead by two shots at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate at the club's Lakeside Course.

The Cowboys' 11-under score was two strokes better than Texas at the par-72, 7,017-yard layout. Four teams finished the day knotted for third place with 282 totals.

OSU's Matthew Wolff was one of three players to post a 66 during his first round. The Cowboy freshman finished the day atop the leaderboard with Texas' Doug Ghim and Georgia Tech's Chris Petefish.

Wolff opened with a birdie at the par-5 first and moved to 3-under for the day with birdies at the fifth and sixth. After carding his lone bogey of the round at the ninth, he reeled off three consecutive birdies on Nos. 11-13 before tallying a closing birdie at the 18th for an inward nine of 32 and a 6-under total for the day.

Zach Bauchou also broke 70 during his opening round, signing for a 69, which included four birdies on his front nine. The junior's total tied him for 12th place.

Sophomore Viktor Hovland and junior Nick Heinen each carded opening 71s to come in tied for 25th place.

Junior Hayden Wood's 76 tied him for 67th place.
