Cowboys Rise To Second At Carmel Cup

Round 2 Results
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired a 17-under-par 343 during its second round on Saturday at the Carmel Cup to move into second place at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Cowboys' 36-hole total of 698, 22-under, is four shots off the pace of Georgia at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout. Texas Tech finished the day at 700 and alone in third place.
OSU had four of its six players post rounds under par with sophomores Nick Heinen and Zach Bauchou leading the way with 66s. Junior Sam Stevens turned in a 69, while sophomore Hayden Wood carded a 68.
Heinen's 6-under day moved him into a tie for first place at 135. Arkansas' Alvaro Ortiz, Georgia's Greyson Sigg and Texas Tech's Fredrik Nilehn all finished the day at 9-under par as well. Heinen got off to a birdie-eagle start and moved to 4-under on the day with a birdie at the fourth. After carding a bogey at the 10th, he reeled off birdies at the 12th, 14th and 15th to get to 6-under. He then countered a bogey at the 17th with a birdie at the last to get to his total.
Stevens' 69 moved him into a tie for seventh place at 139, while Bauchou's 66 jumped him 22 spots into the group at 139 as well.
Wood's 68 gave him a 141 total and tied him for 14th place, while freshman Viktor Hovland dipped into a tie for 33rd place at 145 after posting a 75.
Junior Kristoffer Ventura posted his second consecutive 74 to finish the day tied for 43rd place at 148.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 8:10 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Vanderbilt, Texas Tech and Georgia.
