Cowboys Slip Into 14th At NCAA Championship

Round 2 Results
EUGENE, Ore. — After posting a 289 during its second round, Oklahoma State's men's golf team dipped into 14th place at the NCAA Championship on Saturday at Eugene Country Club.
The Cowboys began the day in sixth place before their 9-over round gave them a 36-hole total of 574. However, OSU finds itself just 11 shots out of first place, which is held by Vanderbilt at 3-over 563, and one shot behind Louisville and Florida for 12th place.
Southern California's Justin Suh followed an opening 68 with a 67 to stand at 5-under 135 and a shot clear of Robby Shelton of Alabama for the individual lead.
A pair of Cowboys finished the day tied for 35th place at 142 to lead the OSU starting five.
Sophomore Kristoffer Ventura carded the squad's low round of the event, an ever-par 70, to get to his 2-over total. Starting his day on the back nine, he opened with five consecutive pars before posting a birdie at the par-5 15th. Ventura made the turn at 1-over 35 after posting a double bogey at the 18th. After moving back to even par with a birdie at the fourth, he closed out his round with five consecutive pars.
Joining Ventura at 142 was sophomore Stratton Nolen, who turned in his second consecutive 71.
Sophomore Sam Stevens posted his second consecutive 72 to stand in a tie for 53rd place at 144.
Senior Jordan Niebrugge and sophomore Brendon Jelley each followed opening 71s with 76s during their second rounds to come in tied for 93rd place at 147.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 10:50 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Florida and Kentucky. The 30-team field will be cut to 15 after 54 holes for Monday's fourth round.
