Walton Named To Watch List For Top Shortstop Award

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma State senior Donnie Walton has been named to the 2016 Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award Watch List, it was announced today by the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.
Walton, a Tulsa native, has established himself as an elite player throughout his career and is enjoying another standout season for the Cowboys. In 36 games this season, he is OSU's leading hitter with a .344 batting average to go along with nine doubles and 21 RBIs. He also owns a .443 on-base percentage, a .450 slugging percentage and is second on the team with eight stolen bases.
In 196 career games, Walton, a switch hitter, owns a .313 batting average and has recorded nine home runs, 113 RBIs, 39 doubles and an OSU-record 54 sacrifice bunts (which ranks ninth on the NCAA's all-time list).
Walton is one of just nine players in OSU history to earn All-Big 12 First Team accolades twice (in 2014 & 2015), with no Cowboy ever achieving that status three times.
