Cowboys' Costello A Candidate For Senior CLASS Award

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State senior Conor Costello has been selected as a candidate for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate baseball, it was announced today.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award seeks to recognize student-athletes that have shown notable achievement in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.
A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Costello is one of 30 candidates for the award, which will be narrowed down to a list of 10 finalists midway through the regular season. From there, media, coaches and fans from across the nation will be allowed to select the one candidate that best exemplifies the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition.
During his time as a Cowboy, Costello, a management major, has earned three Academic All-Big 12 First Team selections and maintains a 3.2 grade point average. On the field, the outfielder/DH and right-handed pitcher is OSU's active leader in home runs while ranking third in RBIs among active players. In 2015, Costello was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List.
Costello serves in the Stillwater community by volunteering with the Salvation Army and participating in a variety of programs with Coaches vs. Cancer. He also works helping underprivileged children in his hometown.
Costello returned to OSU for his senior season after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 38th of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. Currently, he is hitting .242 with a home run and nine RBIs in 10 games for the 22nd-ranked Cowboys.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced at the 2016 College World Series in June.
