Cowboys Open Spring Slate In Hawaii

KONA, Hawaii — Oklahoma State's men's golf team will get its spring schedule underway this week when it begins play at the Amer Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Cowboys, who enter the spring ranked No. 12 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, and the rest of the 19-team field will begin play at 7:30 a.m. (HST) on Thursday morning at the par-72, 7,074-yard layout. The tournament will consist of 54 holes and will run through Saturday with 18 holes being played each day.
OSU's lineup will consist of sophomores Brendon Jelley and Sam Stevens, junior Zachary Olsen, redshirt freshman Nick Heinen and senior Jordan Niebrugge. Redshirt freshman Hayden Wood and junior Wyndham Clark will compete as individuals.
In 1992, the Cowboys won the inaugural event and also emerged victorious in 1996, 1997, 2006, 2011 and 2014.
Craig Hainline was OSU's first medalist at the event (1992) and was followed by current head coach Alan Bratton in 1993. Tyler Leon won the event in 2006, Jonathan Moore followed in 2008 and Niebrugge was OSU's most recent champion, claiming medalist honors in 2014.
