Cowboys Prime For 2016 Season

Oklahoma State takes the field at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium today for the first official practice of the 2016 season.
The opens open the season three weeks from today when they begin play at the UT Arlington Tournament in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 19.
Josh Holliday is entering his fourth season as head coach at his alma mater in 2016, and the former OSU All-American has led the Cowboys to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and a Big 12 Conference championship during his short tenure.
Holliday's ballclub returns is ranked in the top 10 nationally in four preseason polls, including a spot as high as No. 7 in the Perfect Game poll.
The Cowboys return six players who started at least 36 games last season, including three All-Big 12 performers in seniors Donnie Walton and Corey Hassel and junior Ryan Sluder, who has been named a preseason All-American by several outlets.
OSU also returns nine pitchers from a staff that ranked eighth nationally in 2015 with a 2.84 ERA, the lowest by a Cowboy pitching staff since 1973.
