The Best of 2015 Cowboy Baseball: Sluder’s Walk-Off
September 15, 2015 | Cowboy Baseball
The 2015 season added to the long and storied history of Oklahoma State baseball, with the list of Cowboy accomplishments under third-year head coach Josh Holliday a long one. Over the next few months, we're looking back at some of the most memorable moments and impressive feats turned in by the '15 ballclub. Today we revisit a hit that provided one of the Cowboys' 38 wins in 2015.
Ryan Sluder's 10th inning walk-off home run vs. Dallas Baptist
Ryan Sluder tied for the Oklahoma State team lead with six home runs in 2015, but none were as dramatic as his game-winner against Dallas Baptist at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
DBU entered the game ranked 15th nationally and as the top team in the NCAA RPI, and after 8 ½ innings, it looked like the Patriots would leave Stillwater a winner.
However, the ninth-ranked Cowboys took advantage of three DBU errors in the bottom of the ninth to scratch across the tying run and send the game into extra innings tied at 7-7.
In the top of the 10th, it was Sluder's defense that proved clutch as his diving catch in center field with the go-ahead run on first base helped OSU get out of a jam.
That set the stage for the heroics in the bottom of the 10th. With two on and two out, Sluder stepped to the plate against DBU All-American closer Brandon Koch and deposited the first pitch he saw over the wall in left-center field to give the Cowboys a 10-7 win.
