This weekend, Cowboy senior Jordan Niebrugge will once again represent the United States at the prestigious Walker Cup. The event is contested between the U.S. and a team comprised of players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Match is conducted every two years, alternately in the USA and in Great Britain or Ireland. This is the 45th Walker Cup Match.
This year's event will take place at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in Lacashire, England.
Niebrugge was part of the victorious American squad in 2013, posting a pair of singles victories.
· With his appearance this year, he will become the fifth Cowboy to compete at the event multiple times, joining Philip Walton, Trip Keuhne, Rickie Fowler and Peter Uihlein.
· Kuehne has competed at the event on three occasions (1995, 2003, 2007).
· In 2009, Rickie Fowler, Morgan Hoffmann and Peter Uihlein combined to post a 10-0-1 mark to outscore the GB&I side by a 10-5-9.5 margin.
· Fowler has the highest win total among Cowboy participants, posting a 7-1-0 mark.
· On two occasions, the Cowboys have had three representatives on the U.S. squad. In addition to 2009, Alan Bratton, Kris Cox and Trip Kuehne competed in 1995.
· Walton is the lone representative from OSU for the GB&I squad, competing in 1981 and 1983.
· In total, Cowboys have combined for a 55-25-7 record in 25 appearances at the event.
