Cowboys' Costello Named To Olerud Award Watch List

Award honors nation's top two-way player
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Oklahoma State junior Conor Costello is one of 36 players on the watch list for the 2015 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, it was announced today by the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Olerud Award honors college baseball's top player both on the mound and at the plate.
Costello, who is one of three Big 12 Conference players on the list, has starred as a right fielder, designated hitter and pitcher for the Cowboys this season. The Edmond, Okla., native is hitting .268, and despite missing the last six games with an injury, is tied for the team lead with five home runs and ranks second with 29 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
On the mound, the right-hander has made four appearances, including three starts, and is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA. In 17 1/3 innings of work, he's struck out 14 and allowed only one walk while opponents are hitting just .227 against him.
The John Olerud Award is named for the former Washington State standout who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s and who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
