On his way to claiming The Open Championship's silver medal as low amateur on Monday, OSU rising senior Jordan Niebrugge made plenty of history along the way.
· Niebrugge became just the second Cowboy to claim low amateur honors at The Open and the first since Danny Edwards in 1973.
· Niebrugge's 11-under par total of 277 is the lowest score by an amateur in the history of The Open Championship.
· He became the first American to finish as the event's low amateur since Tiger Woods in 1996.
· Niebrugge tied for sixth, which is the best finish by an amateur at The Open since 2008.
· His sixth-place showing marked the first time an amateur has finished in the top 10 in an Open at St. Andrews since 1960.
