Niebrugge Climbs Leaderboard At The Open

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Oklahoma State rising senior Jordan Niebrugge carded a 67 at St. Andrews during his third round on Sunday during the third round at The Open Championship to climb into a tie for sixth place.
With his 5-under score, Niebrugge moved up 15 spots and was one of nine players to finish the day with a 54-hole total of 207, 9-under par. The Mequon, Wis., native will begin his final round three shots off the lead held by Paul Dunne, Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day.
Niebrugge began his day with three consecutive pars before posting back-to-back birdies at Nos. 4 and 5. He then used four pars in a row to turn at 2-under 34.
With birdies on three of the first five holes on his inward nine, Niebrugge moved to 5-under for his round. After making his lone bogey of the day at the 17th, Niebrugge bounced back with a birdie at the 18th.
Former Cowboy Rickie Fowler climbed 32 spots into a tie for 18th after firing a 66 during his third round to stand at 209.
Like Fowler, former OSU standout Hunter Mahan also made a big move with a 67 to jump 28 spots into a tie for 33rd place at 211.
