STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State dropped the opening game of its series against West Virginia, suffering a 5-4 loss at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in a game that was suspended Friday before being completed Saturday.
With the loss, the 11th-ranked Cowboys fell to 31-16 overall and 14-8 in Big 12 Conference play, while WVU improved to 25-23 and 7-12 in the league.
The Mountaineers scored the game's first four runs, plating a pair of runs off OSU starter Jon Perrin in both the fourth and sixth innings.
However, after being limited to one hit by WVU's Conner Dotson over the first six innings, the Cowboys rallied in the seventh.
Conor Costello led off the inning with an infield single, and a one-out double by Ryan Sluder put runners on second and third. OSU then took advantage of three-straight walks, with Jacob Chappell and Gage Green drawing bases-loaded passes to collect RBIs and cut the Pokes' deficit to 4-2.
Corey Hassel then provided the big hit of the inning as the Cowboys' leading hitter smacked a two-RBI single to left to tie the score at 4-4.
The game remained deadlocked until the ninth. In the top of that inning, WVU put runners on first and second with two outs before heavy rain and lightning forced the game to be postponed.
After resuming things Saturday, the Mountaineers plated what proved to be the winning run when Jackson Cramer sent a Garrett Williams pitch off the wall in right field for an RBI double to put the visitors up, 5-4.

In its last at bat, the Cowboys put the tying run on when Sluder led off the bottom of the ninth with a double, but WVU's Chad Donato struck out the next three OSU hitters to seal the win.
OSU finished the game with just five hits, two of those doubles by Sluder.Tyler Buffett, who allowed the two WVU ninth inning singles on Friday, suffered the loss to fall to 3-3 on the season.
