Cowboy Baseball Releases 2016 Schedule

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State will look to make its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in as many years under head coach Josh Holliday in 2016, and the Cowboys will face a formidable schedule during the upcoming season.
Seven NCAA tourney teams from a year ago highlight OSU's 2016 slate. Two of those — TCU and Arkansas — were College World Series teams in 2015, while another, Missouri State, advanced to a Super Regional.
"We've tried to go out and play the best teams that are available to play," Holliday said. "You've got to prepare your team to win a championship by exposing them to other teams that are realistically in championship contention."
OSU opens the 2016 season Feb. 19-21 with four games at the UT Arlington Tournament, with the Cowboys taking on host UTA and Stephen F. Austin twice each. The following weekend, Holliday's ballclub will return to action with a road trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., for a three-game set against perennial NCAA power North Carolina.
The first of 28 home games at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium is set for March 1 when OSU begins a two-game, midweek series against Incarnate Word.
The Cowboys will host four three-game series against non-conference opponents at Reynolds Stadium, including a showdown against Michigan on March 18-20. Other non-conference highlights include midweek contests at home against Missouri State, Dallas Baptist, Arkansas and Oral Roberts.
OSU begins Big 12 Conference play at Kansas State on March 25-27 and will also travel to West Virginia, Baylor and Texas in league play. The Cowboys' conference home-opening series is against Texas Tech on April 8-10, and they will also host TCU and Kansas in 2016.
The Bedlam Series against Oklahoma is set for May 13-15, with the rivals squaring off in Oklahoma City on Friday before moving to Tulsa for the final two games.
OSU has played in the finals of each of the last two Big 12 Baseball Championships, and the 2016 conference tourney returns to Oklahoma City's Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on May 25-29. NCAA Regionals get underway on June 3, with the College World Series set to begin on June 18.
