McCurry Named To Olerud Award Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma State's Randy McCurry is one of 25 players on the 2013 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List.
The Olerud Award, which is presented by the National College Baseball Hall of Fame, recognizes players who excel both on the mound and in the field.
“These players are contributing to their team's success in multiple ways,” said Sam Dowell, Olerud Award co-chair. “To see the numbers they have compiled throughout the season is very impres¬sive.”
McCurry has started 40 games for the Cowboys this season, 34 of those at shortstop, and is hitting .314 with a home run and 27 RBIs. He is tied for the team lead with 14 doubles and has a .423 slugging percentage.
On the mound, the senior from Tupelo, Okla., is 2-1 with a save and a 2.16 ERA in eight appearances. Opponents are hitting just .207 against McCurry, and the right-hander has 12 strikeouts in 16.2 innings of work.
The 2013 Olerud Award will be presented as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions on June 29 in Lubbock, Texas.
