2011 Big 12 Baseball Teams in PDF Format 
IRVING, Texas - Junior Zach Johnson was named the 2011 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year and was among four Oklahoma State players to earn All-Big 12 Conference honors, it was announced by the league today.
Along with the Newcomer of the Year Award, Johnson was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. Sophomore designated hitter Dane Phillips was the lone Cowboy to earn All-Big 12 First Team plaudits, while catcher Jared Womack and outfielder/pitcher Gabe Weidenaar joined Johnson on the second team.
Six Cowboys were named honorable mention All-Big 12: infielders Davis Duren and Mark Ginther, outfielder Devin Shines and pitchers Brad Propst, Mike Strong and Chris Marlowe.
Johnson came to Stillwater after two seasons at Ohlone Junior College. The Cowboys' first baseman ranks in the top three in the Big 12 in seven offensive categories - batting average (.351), home runs (11), runs (48), doubles (20), RBIs (56), slugging percentage (.620) and total bases (127). He also ranks fifth in hits with 72.
A native of San Ramon, Calif., Johnson has hit safely in 46 of the 54 games he has played in for the Cowboys. He opened the season with a 16-game hitting streak, the longest by an OSU player this season.
Johnson leads the club with 15 multi-RBI games, including five games in which he recorded four RBIs. On April 29, he became the first Cowboy since 2003 to hit for the cycle when he achieved the feat against Kansas State.
Phillips has been one of the league's top hitters in 2011, and he ranks among the Big 12 leaders in batting average (.345), hits (78), triples (8), total bases (121), runs (43) and slugging percentage (.535). His eight triples rank third in the NCAA this season and are one shy of OSU's single-season record.
As the Cowboys' primary DH, Phillips has hits in 48 of OSU's 55 games this season and reached base safely in the first 30 games of the season.
Womack has been one of OSU's top run producers this season. He led the team with 22 RBIs in conference play and is hitting .294 with eight homers and 45 RBIs on the season.
A transfer from Ranger JC, Womack is second on the Cowboys in both multi-hit games (21) and multi-RBI games (14).
Another JUCO transfer, Weidenaar has flourished both on the mound and at the plate and was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team as a utility player.
Spending the majority of his time in center field, Weidenaar is hitting .294 with two home runs and 21 RBIs. On the mound, the right-handed reliever has allowed just one earned run in 12 appearances and sports a 0.45 ERA. He has picked up a pair of saves and has recorded 18 strikeouts in 20 innings of work.
OSU has now had 60 players named All-Big 12 or honorable mention under head coach Frank Anderson, including 13 first teamers.
