AUGUSTA, GA. - For the third consecutive year, a former Oklahoma State standout earned a top 10 at The Masters Tournament with Bo Van Pelt finishing tied for eighth place on Sunday at Augusta National Golf Club.
Van Pelt fired a 2-under 70 during his final round to finish at 8-under 280 for the event and knotted with K.J. Choi. The duo finished six shots off the pace of tournament champion Charl Schwartzel.
Van Pelt extended OSU's string of top 10-finishes at the event after Hunter Mahan tied for eighth last year and tied for 10th in 2009.
On Sunday, the former Cowboy overcame a bogey at the first with a birdie at the seventh to turn at even-par 36. The Tulsa, Okla., resident moved into contention with eagles on the inward nine's par fives, Nos. 13 and 15. However, bogeys on his next two holes dropped him into a tie for eighth.
For Van Pelt, the start was just his second at The Masters after missing the cut in 2005. Additionally, he tied Mahan, Scott Verplank (2003), Bob Tway (1986) and Bo Wininger (1963) for the second-best finish at the tournament by a Cowboy. David Edwards tied for third in 1983.
