Cowboys in 10th at Nicklaus Invite

DUBLIN, Ohio - Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational in 10th place after posting a 36-hole total of 600 at Muirfield Village Golf Club on Monday.
The Cowboys opened with a 296 during their morning round at the par-72, 7,352-yard layout to stand in fifth place before posting an afternoon score of 304 to dip five spots in the team standings with their 24-over-par total. Tournament host Ohio State finished the day at 2-under 574 to hold a one-stroke lead over Kent State and Texas. OSU will begin its final round one shot behind Texas Tech and three strokes behind TCU.
Thomas Pieters of Illinois posted rounds of 66 and 71 for a 7-under total of 137 to stand two shots clear of the field heading into tomorrow's final round.
Junior Sean Einhaus followed an opening 71 with a 77 to finish in a tie for 21st place at 148.
Sophomore Kevin Dougherty signed for a pair of 75s to stand in the group tied for 31st place at 150, while classmate Ian Davis came in a stroke back at 151 and tied for 34th place after carding rounds of 74 and 77.
Junior Drew Page posted a 158 total that included rounds of 83 and 75 to stand alone in 52nd place.
Sophomore Brad Gehl's day consisted of a 76 and an 83, giving him a 159 total and tying him for 53rd place.
The Cowboys will close out the event tomorrow morning when their third round gets underway at 8:30 a.m. They will be grouped with Purdue and North Carolina.
