Cowboys In Second At Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 721 total on Saturday during the first day of action at the Aggie Invitational to stand in second place at Traditions Golf Club.
In a six-count-five format that allows teams to utilize one more player than a standard format, the Cowboys used scores of 355 and 357 to stand at 8-under 712 for the day. Tournament host Texas A&M stands at 697 and will take a 15-shot cushion into tomorrow's final round. Texas Tech stands in third and one shot behind OSU.
Individually, Cowboy junior Kevin Tway was one of three players tied for first place at 6-under 138. The Edmond, Okla., native opened with an even-par 72 that included two birdies and an eagle before posting a 6-under 66 that featured three birdies and two more eagles.
Tway was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Geoff Shaw of Texas A&M and San Diego State's Tom Berry.
After opening with a 72 of his own, sophomore Morgan Hoffmann also broke 70 during his second round, firing a 69 to move into a tie for ninth at 141.
Redshirt freshman Sean Einhaus posted scores of 71 and 74 to finish the day tied for 22nd place at 145, while junior Mark Johnson's 70 and 76 put him in the group tied for 31st at 146.
A pair of Cowboys, sophomore Peter Uihlein and senior Trent Whitekiller, finished the day with 147 totals and tied for 34th. Uihlein signed for a 75 and a 72, while Whitekiller posted rounds of 70 and 77.
The Cowboys will close out play tomorrow at the par-72, 7,146-yard layout at 8:40 a.m. and will be grouped with Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
